E3 Auditory Wrap-Up

So BirthdayBot and I are back from E3 and we wanted to share our thoughts about everything we saw down at the LA convention center this past week.  Take a listen and let us know what you think.

or right click and save as to listen later.

For those that don't know what we're talking about I've included a couple of trailers for the games we are most excited for.

NetWar NetWar NetWar

NetWar was a lot of fun over in Nebraska.  But I must say it's extremely exhausting when you're up for 34 hour marathons.  So for this post I've decided to put less text and present to you the LAN in image form.

It was a great time for us at the LAN and we hope that everyone there enjoyed Legions, you should be seeing some new users around the site as well.  Check out the legions blog for some stats from the LAN.

Nebraska Here We Come

Nebraska

InstantAction's very own Dynamic_Derek and DrWiley will be headed to Omaha, Nebraska to attend NetWar.  This 500 person LAN event will go down on April 24th-25th in the great Mid-West.  With us we will be bringing some pretty awesome swag to give out as well as promote InstantAction (that means more people to play with).

Some of the swag includes Legions branded LAN machines, InstantAction and Legions shirts.  For images of what we'll be giving away head on over to the Legions blog.

I'm looking forward to the travel and if you can make it to Nebraska for NetWar I'd highly recommend it.  You'll get to hang out with Derek and I, talk about anything related to InstantAction and/or Legions, and possibly take home some pretty awesome IA gear. Brace yourself Nebraska, here we come.

April MYOG Blog: The Game Developers Conference

Although it's been a week since the end of the Game Developer's Conference, many of us here at GarageGames and InstantAction are still reeling from its after effects.  For those of you who don't know, GDC is "THE conference."  It's the place where deals are made, tech is shown off, and faces from all corners of the game industry - from consoles to casual - gather to talk about what's happening in video games.

In this month's Make-Your-Own-Game blog, I'd like to recap our GDC experience so you too can see what it was like straight from the show floor.

First, obligatory screenshots:

The awesome 35-pound Torque logo towers over the booth, making it distinct even from a distance in the expo hall.

We had some fantastic demos in our booth, including Eyal Erez of Sudden Games showing off Sushi to Go on the iPhone.

The booth crowd is just rocking! Everything you see on the red carpet is ours.

Second, some videos of what we demoed in the booth:

GDC 2009 PlayLegions.com Demo

GDC 2009 - Torque 3D "South Pacific" Part I (other parts available on the GarageGames vimeo channel)

GDC 2009 Buccaneer: The Pursuit of Infamy Presentation

Happy game development!

InstantAction at InfernaLAN

Dynamic_Derek and Crash7800 will be heading up to Dupont, Washington to take part in InfernaLAN this weekend (March 27th - March 29th).  The LAN hosts 300 people for obviously 3 days and we'll be there to take it all in.

In addition to just being there and having fun, we'll also be giving away a bunch of swag.  This includes a full PC, PC cases with Legions decals, shirts, and more.

We've got a few other LANs scheduled to attend so if you are in the area, you should show up and say hello.  If you attend any LAN events that you think InstantAction should be a part of please let us know right here

Below you'll find some images of the computer we're giving away and the decals that will be on the cases.

PDXLAN and WVGLAN

This last weekend we were at a couple of different events.  You know about PDXLAN up in Portland but you probably didn't hear about WVGLAN (Willamette Valley Gamers).    We were there and we gave away Legions branded computers at each event.  There were also shirts and PDXLAN used our Legions cards as the official Lanyard (the originals didn't show).  I've got a handful of pictures from both events.  We also want to be a part of future LAN events so scroll down to find out how to get IA involved.

PAX Afterparty

Just wanted to show a few pictures of the afterparty that we held at Temple Billiards.  It was loud downstairs and full of pool and chatting upstairs.  Fun times all around.
